Why years of study still don’t make you speak
Many learners study English for years and read well, but freeze in front of a native speaker. The reason is simple: speaking only grows when you actually speak, in a situation where someone is waiting for your answer.
Practicing with AI gives you exactly that without the pressure. Nobody laughs when you get it wrong, and you can say it again as many times as you like.
Situations you will practice
- Coffee shop: order a drink, ask for the Wi-Fi, change your order because of an allergy.
- Hotel: check in, report a problem with the room, check out, leave your luggage.
- Train station: buy a ticket, ask for the platform, report lost property, change a ticket.
- Pharmacy and clinic: describe symptoms, buy medicine, book a follow-up visit.
- Supermarket, restaurant, laundry: ask where things are, book a table, complain about a dish.
- On the street: give directions to a tourist, ask the time, meet the neighbours, call your family.
How one speaking turn works
- The character says a line and reads it aloud. Tap Translate to see the meaning in your language.
- You tap the mic and answer out loud. Not sure what to say? Open Hints.
- If your sentence matches one of the scripted answers, the conversation moves on right away.
- If you say it another way, AI understands what you mean, the character replies naturally and shows you a better way to say it.
- The corrected sentence has a Practice this sentence button: listen and repeat until you know it.
How this differs from a regular AI chat app
- Context: you are standing in a shop, someone is serving you, and you have a goal to finish.
- Structure: every situation has a script by level, so beginners never get lost.
- Your language when you need it: hints, meanings and feedback in your language, while what you say stays English.
- Voice, not typing: speech recognition runs on your phone.
